RkAmImzkPYj
I'd say you're only missing half of it It's atcually a grower and it's not because it's not catchy that it's less relevant I for one find it better than her previous effort (Aerial). Snowflake, Lake Tahoe, Snowed in at Wheeler Street are great tracks. The problem is middle-aged Kate, as you call her, is more into atmosphere than proper songs. Most of her new output these days is rather thin on melody, she seems to be content on speaking, or vaguely singing. It's a little more tuneful and pop than Laurie Anderson. Gone are the exalted songs circa the Dreaming or Hounds of Love. However I do love the fact her voice has gone even deeper, I was never a fan of the first two albums which, if ever there had been some logic she should have re-recorded or Director's Cut instead of The Sensual World and The Red Shoes which were faultless.I'm a little disappointed that the title track with Stephen Fry is a bit gimmicky and for a song that gives its title to the album, it is a little anecdotal and maybe slightly laughable, though I do like the actual '50 words' for snow.it's maybe not worth 5 stars or worthy of ever going platinum, a good 3 stars is enough and still ranks highly in the Bush canon. I was hoping it would have been a little more developed, almost hoping for a Hounds of Love 2 but we shouldn't be picky, let's face it. her career peak is behind her, she's started a new phase, a little different, a little quieter (gone are the crazy rhythms and almost tribal drumming). It's the new Kate Bush. Long she may live and sing, and continue to charm us.
